Commemorating the Parinirvana of Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen 2009

Dehra Dun, India — One year after Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen withdrew his consciousness into the expanse of dharmata, the sangha of Mindrolling Monastery commemorated his paranirvana with hearts full of longing devotion and love.

In the early morning of the 28th of February, 2009 (3rd day of the 1st lunar month), the Kudung of Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen was led in full procession from the Mindrolling Ladrang to the courtyard of the monastery where a vast array of fresh and lavish offerings was arranged amidst which the Kudung Rinpoche was placed.

Thousands of devoted followers came to pay their respects. Among those were all the many great and eminent teachers who are present for the Rinchen Terdzöd, such as Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, His Eminence Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche, His Holiness Yangsi Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, His Holiness Yangsi Dudjom Rinpoche, His Holiness Khamtrul Rinpoche, His Eminence Khenchen Rinpoche, His Eminence Penam Rinpoche, His Eminence Chögön Rinpoche, His Eminence Lhatrul Rinpoche, His Eminence Yangsi Tulku Ugyen Rinpoche, His Eminence Tsoknyi Rinpoche, His Eminence Satrul Rinpoche, His Eminence Khochhen Rinpoche, His Eminence Neten Kuten Rinpoche, Her Eminence Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and many other tulkus and khenpos along with a large gathering of monks, nuns and lay-practitioners from both the East and the West.

The entire day passed very smoothly with the grace and elegance that can be felt in all activities connected with Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen. The sangha, as an offering, performed the Minling Dorsem (Vajrasattva) sadhana and offered a vast ganacakra.

During the Minling Dorsem ceremonies the Mindrolling family was joined by the nuns of Samten Tse and students of the western sangha.

During the commemoration ceremonies, gar-cham (ritual dances) was offered.

As the day ended with the return of Kudung Rinpoche to the Minling Ladrang, the entire sangha of Mindrolling felt as one in the unmistaken understanding that the loving compassion of the Guru is free from all constraints of time, space and worldly limits.

The compassionate, unfailing gaze of Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen could be felt by all fortunate students with true devotion and pure samaya. We pray that Kyabje Rinpoche continues to guide and nurture us with his all-pervasive compassionate regard until enlightenment is attained by all beings.
