Current Projects

All the projects that were supported are, as of today, efficient and self sufficient. That is why Her Eminence Mindrölling Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche wishes now to focus more specifically on individual projects.

The people needing your support are people who are not only in exile but also in great precariousness.

Sponsorship for the aged people

vieille dame

Under this project STCP now sponsors almost one hundred senior citizens by providing monthly sponsorships. People chosen under this program are all very old and suffer from various illness or have no support or family to provide for them in old age.
Living under very difficult conditions most do not have any other source of income and depend entirely on sponsorships for their most basic needs such as food and medicine.

STCP hope that with more funding we will be able to sponsor at least one hundred more older people as more cases are submitted to us.

Youth Project

jeunes

Since 2003 STCS has also supported many young people in receiving financial support in completing their education and in also realizing their hope and vision of a successful career.
We screen the young people in order to ensure that they truly are suitable for receiving sponsorship and also in making sure that they are qualified in their field of education and art.
We have financially helped some young people get scholarships to complete their education. We have also set up a fund to give financial aid to any young and talented Tibetan youth who wishes to establish a career in art and music.
This project helps the young Tibetans in having support in what is otherwise a very challenging society for those who struggle as refugees. The sponsorship enables them to establishing a strong foundation that can enable the person to becoming independen

Tibetan Women's Association

Tibetan women's association is an organization that promotes health, education, job opportunities and community development projects for Tibetan women, children and the aged.
Samten Tse Charitable projects supports several Tibetan women's association projects by funding numerous programs and projects. We have funded the building of a guest house, offices and education and skill training center, shrine room and community prayer room etc. under this project.
The funding of this project enables the Tibetan women's group to be supported and thereby spearhead a much needed development program that helps in many women's issue and in spreading awareness and education to the women.
The project also sponsors various programs that promotes the preservation of traditional art and culture of Tibetans in exile.

Support for Nuns and Retreatants

Under the Shri Dharma Sagara project we have initiated a fund for the support of nuns.
This fund will provide medical aid and sponsorship for their education and for retreats. Funds received for this project will be gathered in a community account and used for the entire community of nuns.

Support Program for Young People facing Problems With Addiction

For several years, STCS had been approached by many Tibetan youth organizations to take an active interest in the many problems that the young people face in their communities. In response to this request, STCS is planning to create a youth center which will provide a base for many youth related programs such as information and help with drugs and addiction problems, computer education, community service and awareness programs as well as various programs of cultural preservation for the young Tibetans in exile. The initial project is directed towards establishing such a youth center in Dehra Dun, India which has one of the largest Tibetan communities in North India. The projected cost estimate for 2010-2013 is 55,000.00 €.

The Ayujnana Project― Animal Care and Refuge Center

A new initiative under the Ayujnana Project helps support an existing animal care and refuge center near Dehradun, India.  The center currently cares for more than 100 dogs and puppies as well as numerous cows and water buffalo.  All of these animals would certainly die if not rescued and tended to by the animal center. The center provides a safe place for the animals to live, food and medical attention and does not euthanize them. The caretakers do their best to provide a safe haven and love under very difficult circumstances and with very little money.

The nuns of Samten Tse have begun to visit the center monthly, helping with food and care.

Drolma Chödrön's report - December 2009

Greetings to everyone from Rinpoche and members of the Samten Tse Charitable Society.
I have had the opportunity to accompany the nuns who volunteer and help support the animal shelter here and wanted to send you all a short report. The nuns of Samten Tse help and provide food and basic needs to the animal shelter which is appreciated very much by everyone there. I was struck by the compelling suffering of the animals and the heart warming care and help they receive from the few volunteers. There are few buildings where the sick animals are treated and helped to recover after receiving medications and surgery. Many animals, mainly dogs are fed and kept outside because there aren't as many facilities of covered spaces to shelter them. The nights in the winter are cold here and very harsh for the animals and there is a definite need for more sheltered space.
At present, there are hundreds of Dogs, Chickens, monkey, cats, cows and buffalos. Samten Tse provides for their food and basic care which is very much appreciated by the staff of the animal rescue. Despite very little help from anyone else, the animals here are fed and taken care of until they regain strength before going back to where they were found. many however stay because they are very sick and need alot of care.
We are all very appreciative of your donations towards this project which enable us all to give help to these animals. The need however is constant as more and more suffering animals pass through this place. And I know your generosity and good heart will keep matching this need and encourage us to continue with the work here.
